When will I get my membership materials?
Please allow 7 to 10 business days for us to process your membership and mail your materials. If you visit the History Colorado Center in the meantime, just check in at the Membership desk. If you haven’t received your card and materials after 10 business days, please contact us.
If I want to visit the museum before I receive my card/materials, what do I do?
Check in at the Membership desk for entry.
Where do I find my membership number?
The membership number is beneath the barcode on the member card. If you have a card with no barcode and cannot find the number, please contact the Membership desk at 303-866-3639 or via email. Your membership number will also appear in e-communications, your welcome letter and renewal notices, and it’s listed on the mailing label of Colorado Heritage and Explore.
Do I get a new card when I renew my membership?
You do not get a new card. Your records have been updated automatically and you can keep using the same card after you renew.

If I can’t find my card, how can I enter the museum?
Stop by the Membership desk and they’ll look up your account and reissue the cards if necessary.
Do you send new member cards if mine is lost?
Yes. Please contact the membership desk at 303-866-3639 or via email.
Am I the only one who can use my Georgetown Loop Railroad tickets, or can I give them to someone else?
You can give them to someone else! Members don’t have to be present with guests using the complimentary ticket(s).
Do I need to bring the other person named on the membership, or can I bring someone else?
Memberships are nontransferable and cannot be shared with nonmembers. Photo ID and membership card are required for benefits, and the cardholder must be present. You can bring a number of guests based on your membership level.
How many kids are allowed into the museum with my Family/Grandparent membership?
The Family membership allows entry for your own children under age 18, while the Grandparent memberships allows entry for up to 4 grandchildren.
What are the Community Museums my membership gives me access to?
With a full History Colorado membership, you gain access to the History Colorado Center and Byers-Evans House Museum in Denver, El Pueblo History Museum, Fort Garland Museum & Cultural Center, Fort Vasquez Museum, Healy House & Dexter Cabin, Trinidad History Museum, and the Ute Indian Museum. Please check hours of operation on our website.
Can I get a refund for my membership?
No, all memberships are nonrefundable and nontransferable.
How can I update my mailing address or email address with History Colorado?

What’s the Time Traveler Program, and how can I take advantage of it if I’m traveling to another state?
Time Travelers is a reciprocal membership network for historical museums and societies throughout the United States. If I mailed in my renewal notice recently with payment but then received another notice in the mail, did you receive my payment?
It’s possible the notice may have been sent before your payment arrived. To confirm that we’ve received payment, please call 303-866-3639 or email us.
Is my membership tax deductible?
Yes. Based on IRS guidelines, the total amount of your Senior Individual, Individual, Senior Dual, Dual, Grandparent, or Family Membership is fully deductible. For higher membership levels the following portion is deductible: Explorer - $131, Centennial - $281, Historian - $481, Bancroft - $957. History Colorado’s federal tax ID number is 84-6000482. Can I use my membership card for a school visit?
No, memberships cannot be used for school field trips, school programs, or rental discounts.
