Education projects provide information about historic preservation or historic sites through interpretation, public media creation or curriculum development. Field schools and hands-on learning projects fall in this category.
The purpose of this type of project is to educate professionals, students, volunteers, amateurs, and the general public. Educational projects can also include efforts to create interpretive materials for cultural resources. It is critical that Education and Survey and Planning projects should be directly tied to historic place and focus on historic buildings, structures, sites, districts, and objects.
Appropriate tasks for this type of grant include:
Field schools (includes all activities listed under and survey and planning and large-scale excavations when appropriate)
Public programs and/or exhibits
Collections analyses and/or rehabilitation
Educational materials and curriculum creation/dissemination
